GoPro HD Surf Hero – Captures Largest Wave Ever Surfed
Big-wave charger Garrett McNamara caught what many claim to be a record breaking 90ft wave and it was all captured on the GoPro HD Surf Hero. Garett is now the most favored nominee for this year’s Billabong XXL Biggest Wave Award, an award that also has a big payout of a $130,000 dollars. It appears that Garret attached is GoPro HD Surf Hero to the nose of his board using the surboard mount.
The 90 ft wave wave broke of Praia do Norte, Nazare, Portugal. The bathemetry of the ocean floor is unique in that there is a deep underwater canyon that is known to double swell heights turning already gigantic 40ft swells into life-threatening 90ft record breaking wave monsters.

A few years ago you would have had to a heavy and bulky camera video camera that would make capturing a big a wave like this impossible. Because of sport action cameras like the GoPro HD amazing footages like this has become commonplace.
